Prostitute Not by Choice

Prostitution is a common thing in the Philippines, maybe the story below will explain why.

CAN YOU BE THE ONE TO THROW STONES

I read an article the day before yesterday about prostitution in the Philippines, it was written by a local I’m quite sure. I’m a foreigner an have lived in the Philippines for a number of years. I have not seen everything that goes on here, but I have heard of it.

First you have to develop a new vocabulary with just a few main words. Here they are: first we have the P word which stands for POVERTY, then there is D for DESPERATION, and lets add H for HUNGER, S for SURVIVAL. Then we ask how are we going to make it better, we can’t individually make it better. We have to get the government to create jobs, and give people something to do, so they can provide for their family’s. Every man I know wants to work and provide a nice home for their family.

There is no work to be had and the wages are terrible if you do get a job, who can feed and cloth their family on less than 300p a day. Something needs to be done about working conditions and wages.

Some of the things that brought about this article by the other guy is because maybe he sees it every day. I will tell you this story, a lady I used to know was working at one of the houses here but it was to payoff a debt I found out, no other source of money except her body. Now why did she owe that kind of money, her husband died and she had to bury him. So where did she borrow the money? Guess what the only person that would loan her the money was her husbands BROTHER, then he sold her to the whore house to work there until the debt was paid. She did not want to but she had to until the debt was paid.

This kind of thing happens all the time but most people never hear about it. Desperation, and survival is why most of it happens. One more story, there is a current instance where a man was arrested for child abuse rape that’s bad isn’t it, but the rest of the story is this: this child charged him for sex and she had had sex with him two times previously, charging him each time. Why she had to have money for rice for the family!

And yet because she was under age he got arrested, is this fair? She was only surviving and desperate. Whose fault is it: The parents? The government? So if you have an answer please tell us. None of us can stand back and throw stones and not be concerned. How do we make life better for the people of the Philippines. ??
