Protect the Rainforests

The majority of the world’s oxygen comes from the rainforest. Do what you can to save it!

I think the main idea from my prospective of view is that the article talks about protecting rainforests and what the dangerous effects of deforestation could be. Some of the effects that is listed and said were that there was a possible risk of extinction between 20: 30 percent of animals from the prediction of the primatologist, Jane Goodall.

At first, I only thought that 20: 30 species of animals would be under extinction, and then I thought that 20: 30 is a lot of species and animals but then I read further on and it said 20: 30 percent of all the species of animals. After reading, I thought that if 20: 30 species of animals is a lot I could not imagine how many animals 20: 30 percent of all the animals are.

It seems to me that maybe this article is informative and it has an other side to it. I believe that the other side may be that this article is trying to persuade to be on their side and in this case, their side would probably be saving rainforests or help prevent climate change.

I think the author wants to convince you that how bad deforestation is and is somewhat blaming the governments of some or most of the developed countries.

A strong statement that proves the main idea is “Providing assistance to farmers and economic investments in ecotourism can make rural communities the custodians of the forests, not their destroyers.” says Jane Goodall. She explains that even a bit of action towards climate change can make a difference in the world and possibly a big difference in the future.

“As a Primatologist , I am particularly concerned by the prediction that 20 to 30 percent of species will face an increased risk of extinction.”

I: “I” is the pronoun because pronouns substitute for nouns of noun phrases and in this case “I” was substituting for Jane Goodall and that is a noun.

Primatologist: “Primatologist” is a noun because a noun is a person, place or thing and a primatologist is a person.

20: “20” is an adjective because an adjective describes a noun and in this case, it is describing how much percent of species and also in this case percent is a noun.

Concerned: “Concerned” is a verb because a verb is an action and when are concerned about something or someone that is an action.

Particularly: “Particularly” is an adverb because it is describing a verb. It is describing how she was concerned and concerned is a verb.
