Racism: It Still Exists, But Why?
Racism and how it plagues society.
Why does Racism exists, who suffers most by this epidemic that has
plagued mankind for many centuries, Who is the author of this mass
confusion, What is Racism, actually, and most important; where
does racism come from.
What is Racism?
We ask, Racism is what keeps our nations and societies
In constant war and turmoil. Racism is not only bound by color, but also
Religion, creed, sexuality and even financial status. The most common
racism though has always been color, or what we call race. But aren’t we
all classified under the human race? No one is to fault for racism, we as
people have feelings, both good and bad. The heart seems weak and tell
us not to like certain things and what objects not to accept. Racism is also
a form of fear and acceptance, or rather fear of acceptance. People tend to
not accept things that are different, especially if we fear what is different.
So who is the author of Racism? Our hearts and our minds, think not,
Accept not.
For example “Jena 6” it’s plagued the nation serving as a memoir of racism on
both sides of the story. Reporters stated that a Caucasian male was beaten by a
group of African American males; on the other side reporters, along with the NAACP stated that this was actually not the cause of the tragic incident, and are fighting for
the offenders to go free. I in fact take no side of either party, justice is justice, if a horrendous act was committed why should it go unpunished.
Though we in society tend to feel that minorities receive harsher punishment for our crimes than other races, “Yes in fact this is true”, they aren’t at fault at all. The fact is our people tend to bring these travesty’s upon themselves. We have those that prove their stereotypes through and through. My saying to everyone is this; “ clear your hearts and see that we are not races of color but of the human race which classifies us as “One” and the world will have more freedom for all”

Great article, leaves me optimistic for the enlightment and progression of the human species. But what now? I can’t help but feel we need much more public, positive displays of pro-interracial community happenings. Where I come from there has been a huge influx of immigration in recent years and we all get on fairly well. No major hiccups. Interracial couples are sometimes seeming almost as common as noninterracial. But, I’m not sure if some groups are starting to slip back towards keeping with their own, which to me shows some sort of fear or anxiety. Communities do play themselves by spreading misconceptions and other things. All this will do is heighten anxieties. We have to keep opening up these anxious areas with positive and public displays of interracial harmony, showing the progression of where we are going, and want to go, as a group. At least show there is a group who feels this way. It is appealing and I do think people will be drawn to it if they know they can be a part of it if there is an outlet, particularily the youngest generation. The roots and reasons for fear, hatred, and bigotry, I can’t help but feel, must be exposed so that we can first see the reasons why people do this. We have to show that it does not come from a place of power or confidence, as it can sometimes be confused with. If you are a victim of bigotry, and fear the person or people commiting this act, exposing the root could bring comfort and it may be the beginning of the healing process. Possibly start the healing process for the instigator as well because they most likely are a victim too, a victim of their own discomfort, fear and hatred. More public displays of interracial interaction are needed to show us the way to the next wave of our communities.
