Random Drug Testing in Schools
Is it a breach of privacy or is it a good thing to do? Why should they have it.
Random Drug testing, is it a right to give to schools? Some schools have passed a new drug testing policy. Anyone in anything co-curricular can be tested. One can see why people might want this passed, lower drug use in a school. But doesn’t it invade on a student’s privacy.
The procedure has them get picked out of class do walk down to the office with an administrator of the school. They then have the student pick a test cup, sealed and pick by student to basically prove that it can’t be tampered by an office worker. The student then must give a urine sample.
Now it does go on more with some signing to show they have given the sample, but it seems that it does go over board. The tests will come back positive for any over the counter drugs. The school must clarify with a student and their parents before it is changed back to a negative test. Not a whole lot of students are for giving a sample, even though they would come back negative. Some people find it a waste of time and a complete hassle to deal with this every week of the school year. So does it make sense to let them do this? Even if it may crack down on the drug users in clubs and sports will it be worth the hassle?

I dont think they should have random drus test because 1, its an invasion of privacy and 2, its thier bodies and if they choose to damage it then thats their problem and nobody elses. i also think that its not rite even tho these drugs are illegal some of these people are not crimals. they just wanna have fun. i think that if they are on probation or paroll. then the p.o should chrck them.

Drug testing in schools? Are you serious? My high school does this and I am NOT impressed!
I thought that in the U.S. citizens where innocent until proven guilty, but according to random drug testing policies, it makes students to be guilty until proving themselves innocent by taking a drug test.
