Rebuilding India-incredible or Unstoppable
The Indian Government’s policies are conducive to creating a positive environment for all round growth – but are they good enough?
By 2011/12 India will emerge as a most viable investment destination. The current economic crisis has not only unnerved people all over the world, in fact, most of the industries in most parts of the developed world have shelved their new projects.
India thinks otherwise. In actual fact ,there is a wide scope for industrialisation, infrastructure development, food products, agriculture and aggro-based investments, power and re-building brand India.
THE STEPS
The Government must concentrate on certain basic issues for development in the changed scenario. It is rather unfortunate that even after six decades of independence, India still does not have adequate infrastructural facilities.. The state of roads, ports and cargo handling facilities at the 75 airports need a fillip. Highways need a much more aggressive stimulus.
Also the Union Government must identify arid and non-agricultural land all over the country. It is important that it identifies product, commodity or industry and services in which a particular state can specialize. Once, things are identified, the Government should make a master plan with areas marked as industrial zone, which will not need to go through ULC clearance or any conversion of land, to make setting up of industries simple. State Government also note. In short-it is required that the Government must take a time bound action.
The latest terrorist carnage and the Naxalites have cast aspirations on the country for which it should heal the wounds fast enough to get the confidence of all the people. To counter this negative publicity, the Government must now start channelising its energies towards rebuilding confidence, recreating trust and provide a conducive business environment to the investors. “India” as a product needs to repackage and re-brand itself to refurbish its image and make it a saleable commodity.
IS the INCREDIBLE INDIA IMAGE SOUND AND TRUSTWORTHY?
The answer is definitely a Yes. India is today on the threshold of a knowledge-based industrial transformation. Important steps towards that end is being taken by the present Government with exceptional Zeal. Technology is obviously playing a decisive role upfront in shaping and catalyzing the transformation and India emerging as a global player in Information Technology frontier is not breaking news anymore . Everyone in the world knows this. India has of course made a significant progress across other technological frontier….nanotechnology to biotechnology with its still greater attainments reaching out to space.
India though has gone global, but the soul of the country remains intact by an interesting mix of the ancient and modern. In fact one can say its like Bharat vs India. India is fighting hard to grow and hankers to get a double digit growth whereas Bharat

is where most of the population of the country lives and is allergic to growth.
History has left marks on its legacy on monuments and buildings leading to history several centuries back. Visitors to India can have a good glimpses of world heritage sites such as the Red Fort, Qutub Minar in Delhi. The Taj Mahal in Agra near Delhi, Victoria Memorial and Howrah Bridge in Kolkata. Gateway of India, and the now famous Taj Hotel of Mumbai, to name a few. India is one of the most populated countries in the world with a population that will soon overtake China’s. India has a climate typical of Asian heat and humidity. With beautiful scenery, mountain ranges, highland plains, rivers, hills, basins, delta’s and also one of the modern wonders of the world the Taj Mahal. India is best advised to be visited during the October – March season. Also Let me add here that I have invested myself on India. I have never thought of living anywhere else in the world in-spite of the vast opportunities that came my way to serve. I have kept my faith and that is being rewarded. India can be impossible and demanding, irritating and annoying but equally tempting, alluring and enchanting, captivating and of-course quixotic. It is difficult for a person like me to be not passionate about India. Howzzzzat?

Incredible yes, but it has stopped, and moves in jerks. Sukh Ram who had Currency lining his pillow-cases is a babe compared to Mayawati, Daulat Ka Beti, ex-Dalit Ka Beti, with her Statue Culture and Rs.1000 garlands. Indian students drive cars in Australia and get beaten up doing courses in Dishwashing and Tailoring! If we got to reach somewhere we have got to Act Big. Remember, today Bihar is where Nalanda was. Anway you think big now, may be you will act big later.
