About the red pandas.

A population is a group of the same kind of living thing inhabiting a certain area. My report is about the red panda. Another name for the red panda is the fire fox.

Red pandas live in the mountain forests of south Asia. Red pandas eat kiwi

A female red panda can eat at least 200,000 leaves of bamboo a day. Mating season is January to March, leading into cubs being born in June or July. When red pandas cubs are born they are only 4 to 5 ounces which is 110 to 130 grams. Fully grown, they reach the height of 20 to 25 inches. An adult weighs between 7 to 13 pounds, smaller than giant pandas. Red pandas can live from 12 to 14 years. Red pandas digestive system is mostly carnivorous [car-niv-or-us] but they are a herbivore as well. This combination is called an omnivore.

Red pandas are endangered. This is negative because if they get too endangered and become extinct then you might not see a red panda for the rest of your life and that means the scientists can no longer study them!

Extinct means to no longer be alive. In the last 50 years in China there was a 40 percent decrease of red pandas. I hope you learned a lot about red pandas as I did.

and they mainly feed on bamboo, but also eat acorns, roots, berries, lichen and occasionally eggs and young birds. Their shelter is in a tree. The red pandas’ predator is the snow leopard and yellow-necked martens and both often take cubs from the nest. The average daily temperature in south Asia varies from 70°F to 90°F with the humidity always high.
