Road Accident Statistics
Young drivers from the age 17 to 25 are at a much higher risk of crashing than older drivers. This is mainly because of inexperience, attitudes, and risk taking.
Statistics
RTA data showed that in 1998, young people of NSW represented represented 16 per cent of all licensed drivers and riders but accounted for 27 per cent of all road traffic casualties.

Research shows that young people are a vulnerable group of road users because of cognitive, attitudinal, behavioural, cultural and social factors. It is human rather than physical factors (i.e. vehicle control skills) that influence the road use behaviours and outcomes for young people.
Medical Costs
If a person is injured in a car accident and their injuries are bad enough, the person will be brought into the hospital taking up a hospital bed that may have to be used for other patients. Of course doctors will be needed to repair and broken bones, repair burns ect. This stops doctors from treating other people.
Industry Costs
In July 1989 NSE compulsory third party insurance scheme was brought in. Young claimants have accounted for almost a quarter of the total cost of claims to the scheme.
The costs involved in road accident means that exactly 1.6 percents of the Country’s Gross Domestic Product per annum is channeled into solving road accident situation.
Health Impacts
The impacts of a road accident can be nothing at all just a bump on the head to death. A car accident thats bad enough can kill and has killed many people.
