Road Kill is Not the Way to Go
Increase speed limits, get rid of four way stop signs and permit right turns on red.
Remove street bumps, extended curbs, flower boxes and destroy all obstacles that have been placed as measures to slow the traffic down in the name of safety. The so called calming measures, have the opposite effect.
Why do drivers burn red lights or fail to stop at an obligatory stop sign?
Why do they drive faster than the posted speed limits?
Fast drivers and slow drivers on the same stretch of highway create an erratic traffic flow. Tailgating and weaving follows. Why are there two speeds posted?
Years ago Quebec made it a criminal act to drink and drive why are there drunk drivers still on the road?
Why aren’t we allowed to turn right on a red light when it can be done safely similar to turning right at a stop sign? Other cities do it without problems.
Who obeys the present rules? Very few and believe it or not it is the person who follows the rules who is most likely to cause an accident. The driver who drives at the posted limit on the highway is a greater menace than the driver who passes him on the right flowing with the traffic at 15 kilometers over the limit. Why are drivers always driving over the limit? Because the limits do not make sense and most drivers use common sense. The roads are built for higher speeds the cars are designed to travel at high speeds and to expect otherwise from drivers is to dream in color. Suppressing drivers is a mistake; other more realistic solutions are needed.

The so called “calming measures,” have the opposite effect. They drive the motorist to distraction and try the patience to the limit, not to forget they also cause accidents while the authorities look the other way.
Doesn’t anyone in the transport department realize that traffic is supposed to flow?
That is what traffic technology is all about; getting people to their destination as fast and as safely as possible?
Why so many imposed restrictions that are downright punishing to the majority of good drivers? Yes it is the good drivers who pay the price for the real offenders. Aren’t most of the problems and accidents caused by a very small identifiable minority of drunks, hotheads, drug addicts, certain over-medicated or nearly blind seniors and of course road raged drivers who lose it all in fits of anger.
