With all the deaths lately of so called “role models”, I wonder, what are we teaching our children?… That’s it’s all right to be a pedophile as long as your famous like Michael Jackson and can pay off your victims and support a lot of charities… That it’s all right to cheat on your wife if you’re a famous football player like Steve McNair and support a lot of charities. Supporting charities is a usually a good thing, but do we forget the rest of their lifestyles, just because they made a big show with their money?
If these people are our children’s role models, then maybe we need to rethink the term “role models.” I realize that no one’s perfect, but can’t we do better than this? Steve McNair may have been a wonderful sportsman, but he left four children behind that will always know he died because he was unfaithful to their mothers. Michael Jackson may have been a good musician, but he left three children behind that will always wonder whether he “did it” or not to those little boys whose families he paid off. These children and our own, need good role models who are faithful husbands who love their wives, and good fathers who love their children, who are morally upstanding citizens, and who have not sold out their family values for the ungodly culture of the world today.
These two men had everything in the world they wanted: riches, fame, and people who loved them. But they wanted something more, something forbidden. And these two men are only two examples of the many, who have forgotten how to be true role models for our children. So I ask the question that Jesus once asked in the Scripture, What good is it if a man gains the whole world and looses his own soul? May God help our children to see and choose the true role models in our society, and not pick those who are named “role models” because of their fame and fortune.

I like your commentary, and you remember what Charles Barkley said.\” I am not a role model. I get paid to play B-ball and entertain. Raise your own kids.\”
