Scammer Alert – Richard Spencer

Richard Spencer or anyone else sending messages of this format are all scammers who want to get your bank details to clean out your bank account.

REGARDING A PERSON USING THE NAME RICHARD SPENCER, HE IS CURRENTLY MESSAGING PEOPLE THROUGH FRIENDS REUNITED.  THIS IS THE MESSAGE HE IS SENDING PEOPLE ON THE SITE AND USING THEIR “BLOCK” FACILITY DOES NOT WORK:

Dear Rosetta ,

I am Barr. Richard Spencer from republic of Togo,a personal attorney to late Engineer Robert Jallow,a nationality of your country who died in tragic motor accident by running into a stationery Trailer without warning sign on December 26 , 2006.

I have contacted you to assist in repatriating his fund valued at USD10,200,000.00 left behind by my client before it gets confiscated or declared unserviceable by the Security Finance Firm where this huge amount were deposited.

Reply to my private email address for more details: richardspencer01@aim.com

Regards,

Barr.Richard Spencer.

HOW I KNOW IT IS A SCAM:

It is a standard Nigerian 401 scam regardless of where the senders of these say they live or come from.  The formats are all the same in that they are either a legal professional or a bank manager or some other respected personage like a missionary.  They always want to give you money from a dead person you have never heard of.  They all want your bank details and they all clean your bank accounts out!

The email he gives is not a proper business one which a Barrister would have, and the name he (or she) is using is not a name typical of the Republic of Togo.  Apart from that I have no relatives called Robert Jallow.  Jallow is a Gambian name and what Gambian calls their child Robert?  Gambian males are usually called names such as Ebrima, Alajie, Omar, Boubacarr, Yousuf and Ammed.

Nothing is believable but these scammers finally hit a target at random who thinks that they may as well try it and see if they get money.  WRONG!

Check this link:  http://www.snopes.com/fraud/advancefee/nigeria.asp

I receive these types of emails almost weekly, mostly in the Spam, and they are so obvious due to their repetitive and boring scam format.

IF YOU USE FRIENDS REUNITED, WARN YOUR CONTACTS ON THERE THAT THIS IS A SCAMMER OUT TO ROB, AND TO TRY TO BLOCK HIM (COULD BE A HER, WHO KNOWS, THEY NEVER USE THEIR REAL NAMES.)  STAY SAFE ON THE INTERNET!

It’s a shame that these type scams still exist. The saddest part of the matter, is that they still exist cause there are people who are still falling for the scam. The letters appeal to pure greed.

Mmm – maybe I should avoid Friends Reunited. I think you’re really responsible putting up this alert. Well done.
