Science : a Blessing or a Curse?

The scientific knowledge is something like a ‘fire’. It is said that ‘fire’ is a good servant but a bad master. This is true in the case of science also. Science can give us all that is necessary for a comfortable life, if it is used properly. If it is misused it can bring destruction to the whole world.

‘Science’ had contributed many wonders to increase the happiness of the human beings. It made our domestic work easy. Today we have mobile phones, cooking machines, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners and so many other things. Scientific knowledge brought about industrial revolution.

The progress in agriculture and industry is made possible only through scientific research. It has reduced the hard work of labourers. It has given us many wonderful things like radio, television, tape-recorder etc.

Science has revolutionised the methods of transportation and communication. It made the travel fast and comfortable. The telephone and wireless are the blessings of the science. The computers made many tasks easy. The science enabled us to fight against the dangerous diseases.

But science has also proved a curse. It has produced highly destructive weapons like Hydrogen bombs and atom bombs. They destroy the whole world in no time. But we must know that there is nothing wrong with the science. It is up to us to decide whether to use the scientific knowledge for the peace or for the war.
