Sex Trade, Children as Objects of Trade

One of the things that I can never fathom is when the world became so corrupt that we have people paying to sleep with children. Is it only me but does the thought of it make anyone else feel murderous angry just to think of it. I set out to establish how widespread this evil is prevalent in the world and I have been surprised at what I found. Obviously with the rise of the Internet and pornography being available to all and sundry the trade has expanded. The perverted nature of men is demonstrated in this acts of perversion.

My research shows that cases of child prostitution prevail in all countries because of the demand. Most of the victims come from poor families or have parents who are absent physically or emotionally.  But the worst are those that are kidnapped and trafficked as sex slaves in brothels or sold to foreign countries.

In Kenya, cases of child prostitution have been reported in the coastal cities of Mombasaand Malindi. Kenyais known as a tourist destination and attracts Europeans from various Europeans countries. It also appears it has become an attraction for paedophilias. There are cases of report of “Mzungus”, (white people) paying girls as young as 9 years to have sex with them. Boys too have been sodomized by these men. All the victims come from poor families in the villages nearby.

Although there are laws against such crimes these people seem to get away with it because they take off before they are arrested. Another thing is that perhaps Kenya has not developed a branch of the police which can deal with these crimes. But now that people are talking about it maybe things will change.

I found that in the Asian countries cases of child sex trade was even worse because the children were kidnapped and sold to brothels as sex slaves.  The similarity in all these case is the poverty involved on the children’s family. It is strange how the poor of the world are exploited in all areas to the point of taking away their dignity. 

I came across similar case in the United States of America. Those interviewed claimed to have been molested as children and had absent parents or they were involved in drugs. The girls feel like they have lost ownership over their body due to the sexual assault. They therefore use their body as a commodity for sell.

I attended a seminar on counseling sexual assault victims and was surprised to learn that there are men from high class profession like lawyers and doctors who are the buyers of such services. They share children pornographic pictures amongst themselves. Some lure children to motels by pretending they are young men while on line. 

It is time that the world dealt with these cases seriously. If we cannot protect our most vulnerable members of society, then we are doomed as humans. We always say children are the future. They need protection not exploitation by perverted grown men who infect them with disease and destroy thier lives before they even have a chance to grow.
