Should Public Schools Have School Uniforms

First, I am going to give you the side of people who are for school uniforms.  One reason is for all you girls out there and maybe even some guys.  Picking what to wear to school everyday can be a hassle.  Girls tend to have many different clothes in their wardrobe.  So if they only need to wear the same uniform every day, then it would be much quicker getting ready for school everyday.  Another reason is the fact that many girls, if not having to wear uniforms, wear almost nothing to school.  You see them get dropped off then head straight for the bathroom and when they come out, they are wearing a whole different set of clothes.  This goes for men too.  They wear their pants really low so you can see what’s under their pants.  It reminds me of the American Idol “Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground” song.

Now to the side of opposing school uniforms.  Many people think that wearing school uniforms will take away from that person’s character.  There are always students who dress differently than others because they like to be different.  Putting in school uniforms will take that ability to be different away from them.  The last reason why people are against school uniforms is that it creates resentment towards students, teachers, parents, and the administration.  Learning is supposed to be a cooperative effort so when liberties are taken away from students, this becomes harder to do.
