Should Wolves Come Back to Yellowstone?

The wolf is a vital species to the Yellowstone ecosystem. Its existence maintains a balance between other species such as the elk and coyote.

It adds to the biological diversity of the area. Wolves don’t offer any economic bonuses to the world, and many can cause problems to ranchers and hunters, but they are valuable to many other aspects of our world.

Yellowstone is a very popular tourist attraction that brings people from every corner of the world. The profit that it does make is important to biological studies and preserving endangered species. One of these species is the wolf. People will come to see the wolf in its natural environment, and money made off of them goes right back to the wolves.

Wolves, without the proper protection, will wander away from the park, into private property, and the owners fight back. If the owner happens to be a rancher, there is a good chance that they will shoot the wolf on site.

Westward expansion lead to the rapid decline of wolves in the late nineteenth century, way before modern technology. Reintroducing the species will give researchers the ability to study these animals and their behavior so we have a better understanding of them.

The wolf is a species that deserves the chance to repopulate and thrive in the environment of Yellowstone. Its presence will be beneficial to the park and the world as a whole.
