Sierra Leon, a World Apart From Australia

The Diffrences between Sierra Lione and Australia or a rough guild to how worse off they are.

Sierra Leone and Australia, kind of like comparing a bar of lead compared to a bar of silver, Sierra Leone is the lead, It’s Dirty and not worth much, it also has a heavy effect on the countries around it, Australia on the other hand is clean, wealthy and does not affect the countries around it that much.

Sierra Leone has gone through a rough time in its past, wars, juntas, massacres and slavery are some of the big ones, the country at the moment is politically stable and has a small military to help defend the country, and Sierra Leone is a Constitutional Republic.

In 2001 67% of Children aged 6-16 were out of school and 37.1% of adults were able to read, because of the low education rate in Sierra Leone there are only around one hundred trained doctors and two major hospitals in the whole country compared to Australia where 99% of the population are literate and went to school and there are around five hundred private hospitals and two hundred major public hospitals they are pretty worse off. The birth rate is 44 births/1000 to 21 deaths/1000 so the population grows quite fast, the average life expectancy for men and woman is around 47.5 years because of the low medical care, Australia’s average life expectancy is 82 years.

Because this country is recovering from the wars, juntas and slavery the pay is low, 160-200USD a year… the average Australian worker makes 60,000-70,000AUD a year; Sierra Leone is the second poorest country in the world.

So Compared to Australia Sierra Leone is a pretty worse off country with low medical care, a bad past and a low economy. The only way you could make a living there is to be in the diamond business.
