Social Issue

I read the newspaper, listen to the radio, watch the news and as a result I often come up with ideas that people could do to make things better. Often people have said to me “that”s a good idea!’

As I need to make some extra cash and I need to write my ideas down so someone might employ me in such a role this site seems to me the way forward!! Anyway here goes!

In Saturday’s Telegraph one article was 50 things about Barrack Obama. (See Telegraph Sat Nov. 8th for further details).

One of the items stated that he will put a basketball court in the White House Garden.

Basketball has many benefits and would be a useful addition to every village – along with community coaching.

Here’s why

Team sports promote discipline, a sense of well being, a sense of belonging, competition between villages/ suburbs helps promote a sense of pride in your local environment and would help reduce vandalism. Most teenagers complain of boredom which must be relieved somehow. I think we are lucky the problem is not worse than it is but we cannot let it get that far before we start acting.

It is vital that we provide facilities and sport and music are healthy outlets for young people.
