Stereotypes Today

This was a persuasive essay that I wrote to share my thoughts and feelings about stereotypes.

Although adults are all grown up, they still have fears, and one of them is probably fear of younger people. Stereotypes cause many adults to act a certain way when they are dealing with teenagers. Some people might agree that when a teenager, or several teenagers walking into a convenient store will make the clerk become more suspicious or cautious in case of theft or robbery, even though there is nothing to worry about. There are also times where convenient stores only welcome a certain amount of students in, at a time. That is unfair and disrespectful to someone who just might want to simply purchase something and adults mistreat them because they assume that their life is in danger or something bad will happen. Stereotypes are the cause of teenagers being mistreated and disrespected. The people around them treat them unfairly, which many teenagers don’t deserve.

Stereotypes cause teenagers to face discrimination and unreasonable consequences for being themselves. Their true personality and character traits are not recognized, the media also demonstrates teens negatively, and adults fearing teens causes them to be unfairly stereotyped. Teenagers already have enough to worry about; school, homework, future careers, less should they need to worry about how they are mistreated or insulted by the people around them

I agree most adults are aprhensive about teenagers, like myself. I am constantly seen as a threat, when in reality, I’m a really nice person.
