Stopping Bullying in All Schools
This is an article about how bullying affects kids and how we can stop the bullying.
How many of us have stories from when we were in school where a classmate made fun of us. We all feel this is a part of growing up and dealing with people in everyday life. But sometimes these criticisms can lead to serious bullying that can sometimes involve violence against a student. The physical abuse by another student can hurt and can be carried with you the rest of your life. The emotional scares can last just as long.
If your child is bullied, don’t blow it off. It is not a part of growing up. It can affect a child’s self esteem and can lead to depression and sometimes suicide. You must stand up for your child and spend time meeting with the teachers and school staff. If they don’t do anything about it inform them you will go to the superintendent of your child’s school district and they can deal with it. Most importantly notify the school immediately of anything serious like any physical attacks of your child and take dated photos of your child so you have proof. Sometimes removing your child from that school district or consulting a lawyer can help your case. Be an advocate for your child. They should feel safe and secure at school and now a days schools in many areas are down right dangerous. This is certainly unfortunate and a shame. Let’s help our children stand up for their self and he confident. Let them know they are not the one at fault. And I think most of all if all school districts had a curciliium teaching children to accept others for their differences whether they have braces or are short or whatever the difference may be that what makes everyone unique. Let’s also make sure our kids are not the ones bullying. Make sure you teach them to respect others and try to build friendships with everyone. Just because a classmate like Pokemon cards and not football doesn’t mean you should make fun of them. Let’s teach our children to have open minds and learn other things besides the things we like. And as far as if a classmate has a disability I feel from kindergarten all through high school there should be a class explaining differences with students with disabilities and their struggles and what other students can get out of getting to know them and learning from them. Your child will be a better person by not having a closed mind to others that are different from them. Let’s teach them to accept everyone for who they are no matter what their difference is. If we teach this throughout this country, generations from now will be a happier population and the country will be a better place.
