“Supersize Me” Conclusion/validity
Was the famous video "Supersize Me" a valid experiment? Were there things that should have been done differenty?
All in all, this experiment was not valid. However, although it was not valid, this documentary “Supersize Me” showed me very interesting things about eating at McDonalds and unhealthy eating in general. For example, it helped me realize that eating at McDonald’s is a choice. It is quick, easy, and cheap and this attracts many customers. Thousands of obese people want to sue fast-food companies for serving them unhealthy food, but it’s their own choice to purchase the food they are eating. I don’t feel that certain foods should be banned from consumers. If people are really worried about their health and what they are reading, then they should take it upon themselves to do the smart thing and look up exactly what it is they are consuming. Finally, without a doubt this film had an effect on the fast food industry. Within months after the film’s release, “supersizing” was no longer an option, nutrition facts were printed right on food packages, and thousands of people thought twice before considering McDonald’s for a meal. “Supersize Me” was a successful experiment.
