Swearing Vs Violence
On a national wide scale swearing has become so wrong that blatant violence has taken a back seat.
On a national wide scale swearing has become so wrong that blatant violence has taken a back seat.
I have been playing Call of Duty online lately and I have noticed something on many of the servers. Most of them have a console message that says no swearing. And if you do in fact swear you are eligible to be kicked out of the game. Being opened minded I asked one of the members why I wasn’t allowed to swear. He in turn replied “Because there maybe be kids playing.”
Well this is all well and good, but I have a question for you. If I can buy this game at the age 13(I am 17) and in this game I can shoot a man in the head. I can pistol whip people. I can blow people apart with various weapons and explosives. Yet I am not allowed to swear because swearing may hurt the poor children. The poor apparently violent children. I thought swearing was a part of speech and apparently we have something called freedom of speech, but if your going to take out the swearing why not take out the violence as well?
I also realize that the servers are privately operated and thats why they don’t allow swearing, however it is becoming more and more of a common occurrence that servers just don’t allow swearing. The question is this: What is going to affect a child more? Gratuitous gore and violence? Or a few “bad” words?

You are so absolutely right!
On a larger scale: why do you want to prohibit abortion but condone death and destruction through wars? How does this comply with your beliefs?

In my OPINION I would rather not hear someone start flaming me just because I’m better then them. Oh and by the way just because someone plays a violent game really doesn’t make them violent. Basically if you get mad because you can’t swear then you really shouldn’t even be playing online games with your IMATURE nature.
