Tea Glorious Tea
The benefits of tea! Unfair taxes levied, The Boston Tea Party.
When somebody spoke to me the other day about the Boston Tea Party, all I could conjure up was a picture of crates of tea gently floating across the mouth of the harbour, cast rudely from their resting place, now just drifting, bobbing along maybe, but still displaced. The descriptive words are perhaps of personal choice, whether you be a poet and a dreamer, or a pragmatist, however you look at it though, the tea was rendered useless.
BUT, did you know that tea aids with your daily fluid intake, and has also been shown to help when used in conjunction with a good diet, to maintain a healthy heart. It contains good levels of flavonoids, compounds with strong antioxidants.
Tea naturally contains fluoride, and therefore can help protect teeth and gums, (along with regular brushing, flossing, etc), in the fight against tooth decay.
Tea contains moderate levels of caffeine. It has been clinically proven that reasonable amounts consumed during the day can increase concentration and awareness, thus improving performance.
Therefore, I ask now our friends and allies of the United States of America, why on earth did you not repel the sailors, and retain the tea?
God Bless,
Nadine
