Teens and The Struggle for Work
16 year-olds might think it’s easy to apply and land a job – not gonna happen.
Personal Experience as an Unemployed Teen
I’ve done enough job hunting to know that trying to score a position is nearly impossible. Trying so hard to be hired by a recognizable establishment is a gigantic waste of effort. The conclusion – teens need to be more creative in the Job Search – we’re better off trying to get work at a golf course or some shit.
Us and Our Messed Up Economy
The unemployment rate for teens has increased to about 25% is still steadily increasing. It may be an improvement – who knows what it was before Obama stepped in? I almost want to rejoice in the fact that Osama Bin Laden is dead, but in actuality, his death has next to effect on our economy. The frailty of our economy and why it’s in a recession is because we drove the national debt in wasteful spending, trying to be friends with every other nation (OBAMA.) Supposedly, the way the economy is now, it won’t return to its recent status until 2018. Teens who actually end up landing a job, be grateful, and don’t carelessly leave it. You might not get another one back.
Carpet-Burn From Other Peers with Jobs
Lucky teens who work love to flaunt their employment status. They take every opportunity to rub it in our faces that they clock in hours at a tiring job and have to deal with annoying co-workers.
I take a good look at my peers and surmise that they couldn’t have gotten a job with their own credentials, could they have? No way. Even entrance-level jobs require a combination of experience and several references. I find it absurd, isn’t that the point of a first job? How do we ever get experience if we never get hired in the first place? Even College Graduates have issues starting careers and tend to be overqualified for most positions.
Education Doesn’t Necessarily Mean the Promise of a Job
Just because you have a degree doesn’t mean anything or hold any grounds. It’s just easier. Remember, mostly, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know that matter in the workforce, Especially in the workforce.
