Terror in Virginia Tech

Gunman scare at Virginia Tech provokes lockdown for hours and protection by armed forces.

United States

Yesterday, at Virginia Tech, a gunman shot a university policeman and held students to a lockdown of 4 hours, inside. He then apparently shot himself to death. It was later reported that additional victims were unfounded and missing. It was dramatisation of the previous 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, where Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people and wounded 25 others before committing suicide.

The shooting had took place on the day Victoria Tech officials were at Washington, D.C – fighting a government fine over their mishandling of the 33 deaths on their campus of the 2007 massacre.

Officer Deriek Crouse, was shot and killed by the gunman. Crouse was a father of five and a four-year veteran of the campus police according to school officials.

The officer was killed after pulling a driver over in a traffic stop. The gunman, whom was not involved in the traffic stop, ambushed the officer.

I think it was important that the school had been trained with a lockdown for situations like this. Every campus should have an alarm-system for warning students about emergencies, ensuring safety of all students and staff.
