Terrorism and The Endless War in Afghanistan
Our involvement in Afghanistan seems as if it is a rerun of the war in Viet Nam,
except that this time, even if we leave that hell of a place, the war would not be over for us. Terrorism will continue and that, too, would seem winless, for the reason that, no matter what we do, the ghosts of terrorism will continue to lurk in the shadows.
It started with 9-11. One would think that it should have ended there. But it stirred the hornet’s nest of terrorism and led us to a remote part of the world where Nature seems to favor the enemy. The question remains: how should we revamp the present strategy of dealing with an enemy that seems unbeatable? If we depart from Afghanistan, where the bacteria of terrorism has proliferated, it would embolden the Taliban to recruit more terrorists that are ready, able and available to unleash their monstrosity around the world, whenever and wherever possible.
Judging from the worsening situation in that remote battlefield of confusion and enigma, the time is not yet ripe to quit. However, if we are to make an appreciable dent in the stalemated performance of our military superiority, we should radically change our strategy as far as weaponry is concerned and not merely send more troops to deal with an enemy whose main sanctuary is Nature’s bastion, namely, the intricate caves where it is presumed Bin Laden himself is safely lodged.
When we think of a new strategy, we should also bear in mind that there should be a revamped plan of action that would bear directly on the vulnerability of the enemy, and consequently drain the reservoir of fighters whose sneak attacks have so far succeeded in inflicting more and more casualties through their daring and deception.
The world is watching closely and wondering if Afghanistan would be another Viet Nam. If so, our loss would not only be a military one but morally disgraceful. So far, the will to carry on this endless adventure has not as yet evaporated, but it seems we are getting dangerously bogged down in uncertainty and dilemma unless we move in another direction that could completely alter the political and military landscape that continues to persist and haunt us at present.

Very serious article too. Now they want more troops and we just letting the one from Iraq to go home only to come back to Afghanistan. I feel sorry for all the families who thought they would there son, daughter, wife or husband home for good.
That movie coming out about war in Iraq and how soldiers are chaeting there wifes back home by have love affiars with these ladies in Iarq or Aghanistan… it breaks my heart for them. It not like they lost them or they are dead but have love affairs etc…or love affairs with there group with nurses etc. but all part of war right…
