The American Age of Today
How much of our income does the average American spend?
Did you know the average American spend 105% of their income. Makes you stop and think for a second there. Then you argue but some people have kids, and the location they live could be and issue as well. True the average child costs about 100,000$ to raise from and infant to 18 years old (more for college and etc). But that was their choice to have the child. Which then leads some families to divorce witch is 1 to 1.7 in the United States. Anyway America’s people are just spending like we did in the gilded age in the mid to late 1800’s just after the civil war. Though the Government was more corrupt spending didn’t change much. I mean the average American uses their credit card for 10 to 40 percent of what they purchase. What do you suppose that does? Well then that puts you in debt and then some go bankrupt, others struggle to survive and etc. Most people use credit for purchasing car(s), and definitely a house, a garage/shop possibly, but come on boats or TV’s or gaming systems every year? I mean waste of money who cares what you have. Now some would argue against that. For instance “But I don’t want to disappoint my Kids”. Yes as your kids grow older they cost more so set a budget for each child that you can pay for. Save your money for holidays and Birth days. If you are suffering that much just sit down with your child/children, if you believe their old enough to understand, and explain to them what’s going on.
On the topic of credit cards the average American is responsible for $16, 635 of the national debt excluding mortgages. Approximately 14% of the citizens of the United States have 10 credit cards. Approximately 51% of the United States population has 2 credit cards. 49 Billion Transactions are said to be made with credit cards by 2011. This all leads to unemployment rate witch were 5.3% in 2008 and 9.3% in 2009 and rising. When will we Americans realize what were spending causes us so much trouble. Its not about what we have, or how much we own. Its about smart spending and the right way of living. Whatever that happens to be I don’t know. But if America is to pull itself out of this hole. We should start with satisfying our needs instead of our wants.
