The Border Wall

Building a border wall is a bad idea. Building a border wall is just a short-term solution to keep the immigrants out of Mexico. Poverty in Mexico is the root of the problem. We need a long-term solution that will get to the root of the problem, clearly building a border wall will not get rid of poverty in Mexico

We are spending millions of dollars to help fund this border wall. In my opinion it is just wasted money. Our tax money should go to something useful like charity. Also we could use this money to get to the root of the problem, we could help out the Mexican people by donating our money to help them, and their government.

Innocent people are dying trying to cross the border, just to get a better life. We could stop these deaths by creating programs to let immigrants temporarily into America to work, like in the video we watched in class. This could help immigrants from dying crossing the border, because they would be less tempted to go through the desert.

So far the border wall has been ineffective. The wall hasn’t stopped the migration of immigrants to America. There are still Hispanics crossing the desert affectively, sure they rates have gone down but not by much. If we want to stop Hispanics from crossing, we should get to the root of the problem.

The border wall is also environmentally harmful. There are certain animals that depend on habitat on both sides of the wall, and unfortunately these animals are not able to get to the side they need because of the wall. This is causing animals to be confused, and even to die.
