The Death Penalty?

My view.

So everybody knows theres a death penalty. Some say that its unjust and cruel and others say it doesn’t work and is a waste of money. Both call for reform, but how exactly should we reform our death penalty?

Heres two important facts about the death penalty that should be known. When you get sentenced to death row its pretty much a jail time of 20 years. You sit and wait until everything gets perfectly cleared up before you die. Getting a death sentence takes a moment. Carrying out a death sentence takes a couple years. What do you think pays for those people waiting on death row? Tax payer dollars. Who pays for their food? We do.

While I wouldn’t call it WASTING our money to pay for these people’s food, I hardly call it good use. As humans of course we make mistakes so some people on death row shouldn’t be there, but I’m willing to say that atleast 90%+ of the people waiting on death row are NOT innocent. Why should we waste our money paying for their well being? It’s like staying at a hotel, not a particularly good one, but an all expense paid hotel. They live, they eat, we pay. Why are we letting these people live after years and years and years of sitting on death row? I believe that if you get sent to death row, you should be given at most a year to get yourself out, otherwise… Why should we use our money to support a murderer? Why should we use our money to support a rapist? Why are we using our money on people who set buildings on fire, kill others, and steal? It makes absolutely no sense at all. Our economy is bad enough as it is. Our prisons are already too full for us to be keeping so many people alive after being sentenced to die.
