The Environment and Our Future

This is a short paper on information about our environment and the future of our children.

I have  put much thought into our environment. I am not an environmentalist of no sort but I have concerns that our environment is in extreme danger. Our government does not tell us everything that we should know and I beleive that it is because they think it is better to keep quiet about many thing to keep society from going into a mass stage of panic.

We should recycle morwe than we do because this adds to pollution of the earth that we live on. This is all we have for now and if we didn’t have earth, where would we go? Most people don’t know the amount of time it takes for materials to decompose. Some example are glass which takes about 500 years to decompose. Styrofoam never decomposes and plastic takes 10-80 years to decompose.

We have to consider our resources such as oil in which we are using up at an alarming rate. I beleive that the reason that we are so involved in making alternative fuels is due to the consumption of our natural resources. Oil is used to make fuels. These fuels cause pollution that rips our ozone apart. Most people probably don’t think about our north pole where the ice is melting faster than scientists initially thought. This is due to the ozone which heats our atmosphere up. The heating of our atmosphere creates warmer waters in the oceans making more hurricanes than we have ever seen. There is no telling what other problems we have caused from our uses or misuses of our resources

We may think that we are okay at this point , but we must consider the future of our kids and our grandchildren. I have heard to many times that things will be hard for the children of the future and this is a xery logical thought because if we consider our population, we know that it is forever growing and when the earth runs out of room, what will we do? China has already limited their couples to only one child per household due to the over population in that country. There is a guarantee that th United States will make these laws in the future.
