The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave
Are we truely free in the united states? you decide.

America, are we still free? Have we become the new Great Britain? Are we becoming exactly what we were trying to seperate ourselves from all those years ago? These are a few of the questions i ask myself when i hear the phrase “The land of the free, and the home of the brave”.
Ive always believed that freedom ment well, free. Not to become enclosed or encased by your own government, or anyone at all. Not to have one man or group of men (women) too powerful. Not to be taxed to live, if i have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happieness why do i have to pay for it? Why do i have to wait to find out at a hospital to find out if im getting my heart? I feel that we arent free in America anymore, to be born poor and be given the oppourtunity to earn money through the free enterprise system is virtually impossible. We as americans dont even have the right to our own bodies anymore, will there soon be laws stating how many times we are allowed to have sex? Or how many children we are allowed to have? or even where we are allowed to live? Why are we as americans being told what we can eat, what we can drink, and what we can smoke? Is the government some sort of god? If we have religious freedom why is christianity forced upon our nation through our money and television so openly. I have never seen quanza decorations on or near any government building in my life. Why is it that the more money you earn in a month or a year the easier it is for you to get out of trouble, or even get out of jail time? Why is it that at the age of 17 you can literally die for your country in war, but never legally drink alchohol or smoke anything? When do our state representatives ask the people what we would like our tax money to be spent on? I would like to know. Why are the children told what they can learn in public schools? when will we as americans truely be free from our government effecting our everyday lives? When will we as americans be free in the land of the free and the home of the brave?
