The Maoist Movement in India

The present day scenario, as far as the Maoist group is concerned, is different. The group has its own ‘Maoist Law’ now for rapid dispensation. With the passage of time, their laws and systems have proved to be more robust the system of the Indian government.

The Maoist movement in our country does owe its origination to some terrorist movement. In fact, the root of the Maoist origination lies in the fight for the freedom of our country before and during 1947. Because of the Maoist attacks, the structure of our nation has changed to a large extent. Sabotage and mayhem form an integral part of the activities of the Maoist. It is indeed difficult to categorically state their intentions, keeping in mind their background. What is more even interesting is the fact that the Maoist group is not like those ‘Funded cross border terrorism groups’. Basically, these naxalites are group of outlaws around Orissa, Bengal and Bihar border. They were mostly barbaric in nature and lived in jungles. They attacked all the agencies and organizations that India owned which were sponsored by the British. Such activities mainly happened during the heydays of the freedom struggle of our nation. Their characteristics and the nature could have so easily been identified with the fables of Robin Hood, who used to extract money from the rich and the affluent only to give it the same to the poor. The members of the Naxalite group were hardly literate. Still, they managed to stir the emotions of our countrymen and influence them during the fight for freedom, with their fiery and captivating speeches. Ranging from the literate section to the illiterate ones, the Naxalite group managed to touch every single soul. Now, a time has come, where, in India, several sections of the Indian societies look upto the Naxalites and call them their saviors. This was the impact of the Naxalites on the varied sections of the Indian societies.

A time came the role of the naxalites faded, just at the time when the Maoist problem came into the limelight. It was basically after the country attained freedom that the Naxalite group receded into the forests and jungles; places where the law of the nations proved to be futile. This group ultimately wanted recognition and power in the country. It is because of the lack of organization structure in our nations that they were able to form ranks and troops of soldiers, so that they could stamp their authority in our country. It was mostly from the rural population that they got their share of luck. A time came, when the government forces started coming into the scenario. The police gained its authority. They became more powerful than ever which meant that the Maoist would now have to surrender to the law of the country. This also meant that a large number of the Indian population (mainly rural population) was left discontented and unsatisfied. As for as the enhancement projects, perks, allowances, infrastructures and various other amenities were concerned, this lot was never taken in to consideration. The aforesaid mentioned facilities never managed to reach their homes of this group. What’s worst was that by now, the police almost assumed the role of the dictators in the nation and “brandished a vile incarnation of the law.”
