The Mobile Phone: A Potential Carcinogen

The World Health Organization (WHO) brought together about thirty experts to peel the studies linking the mobile phone to a possible carcinogenic risk. After deliberation, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has decided to enter the mobile phone on the list of products with "maybe" a carcinogen to humans.

WHO entered the mobile on the list of potentially carcinogenic

For several years, data alert us regularly on a possible carcinogenic effect of our beloved cell phone, but some studies are contradictory. In reaching their decision, the experts relied on epidemiological studies showing that people using mobile phones are at increased risk of 30% of developing a glioma, a brain cancer.

Thus the mobile has been classified in 2b (5 levels in total) on the list of products that could “possibly” present a carcinogenic risk.

Practical recommendations for the call as healthy as possible

In practice, we should all, as a precaution, use the headset to make calls. Other measures may however be applied as not to let young children use a laptop, limit the length of calls, SMS and focus on the phone, and finally, avoid calling when reception is poor or in transport (train, car).

Of course, when buying, are purchasing equipment with Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) is the lowest (reflecting the amount of waves emitted by the phone and entering the human body). But it is mainly the use of the headset that reduces the risks: 1 m of wire 50 decreases the waves received by the brain!
