The Nobel/world Expectations of Obama

When the Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize for 2009 to President Obama my immediate reaction was-hey, I didn’t get a permanent fund dividend check this year…a Nobel Prize is worth a lot more than one of those. So what kind of influence did the Swedes buy with the million dollars and prestigious gift? Is it another way of offshore influence peddling and lobbyist purchase of influence? Is it a kind of bribe of a sitting U.S. President as an upfront payment?
In retrospect in December 2009 with the President’s declaration of the Vietnamiization of the war in Afghanistan following Richard M. Nixon’s template for certain re-election, we can see that an escalation of the war might have been a European hope for containment of the evil terrorist horde up in the hills of central Asia. They might have hoped for a more original, creative and cheaper de frapping plan.

Congratulations are due the President any way for receiving the Nobel Prize bequeathed to the world by the old explosives maker Alfred Nobel. The inventor of dynamite would have a blast with President Obama logically getting the award. It must have been a blast to add the Democratic President to the Nobel laureate list along with President James Earl Carter who the Swedes might expect to serve as a role model for referee of democratic elections for former U.S. Presidents.
One wonders why the Nobel Committee acted so soon in providing the President with another bargaining chip. Perhaps if he must order the bombing of the Iranian nuclear reactors for making atomic weapons it will make the action seem more civil and reasonable. Alternatively perhaps the ferocious Swedes of Viking lore were concerned in some odd way of being bombed by a negro President with a zillion nuclear devices and so they kind of rolled over for him. Because we do not suspect the Swedes of such a down turn in character nor political paranoia, another option is also possible. Did the Nobel Prize heavy-hitters want to rapidly promote Obama as a role model for global Negroes to be peaceful instead of Al Qa’eda style disembowel and behead the opposition for internet broadcast? If just a few African child soldiers decide to opt for becoming mathematicians and inventors of better hydroponic gardening for hot climes with recycling water because of the President’s making rip rap of the peace prize competition, that’s a good thing.
