The Oil Crisis: Solved!

Some scientists predict that there will be a grim future for Earth after the depletion of oil. This is a problem that can be solved.

Although solar power is useful, it does not solve the oil crisis, as daily transportation vehicles continue to be used. Airplanes, trucks, and cars use up 70% of the world’s oil. A good substitute for this oil is hydrogen. Not only will it reduce our dependancy of oil, but it will also completely omit the emission of CO2. A switch from hydrocarbons to hydrogen isn’t much of a big deal, as the basic technology of the engine remains the same. An exciting aspect is that hydrogen fuel cell isn’t a futuristic dream at , because it actually already exists today! “If the G8 countries said that by 2012, every airport had to have hydrogen refueling stations, we could have all the major airlines switching to hydrogen,” says David Scott [3], author of Smelling Land: The Hydrogen Defence Against Climate Catastrophe . This would increase the popularity hydrogen powered travel, and create a market for it. Then buyers would buy hydrogen vehicles rather that oil powered, and fuel stations would start to serve. Hydrogen could definitely become the major substitute for oil. The common man can continue to perform his daily commute, and travel by airplanes, the hydrogen switch wouldn’t affect him, but will make the use of oil a minimum.

The standard of living of the world should not and will not change because of the dwindling oil supplies. The world has not run out of oil yet, but it should not wait until it does and completely switch over to hydrogen and solar power. Hydrogen energy and solar power clearly prove that there is an alternative out there, and people shouldn’t be afraid to reach out and make the big switch.
