The Question of Equality.

What made a voice for equality for men and women, are they not Equal?

The question of gender equality is bringing many crises in the society and creating a social disorder.  The misconception about the gender equality is exchange of the respective gender role.  Before we discuss this further, let us evaluate why the question of equality between man and woman arise.

The concept of Liberation from the Western philosophy gave birth to the voice of equality.  The social discrimination in the community in which slaves, women, criminals and others were alienated from the main stream society, and the resources of the Land were captured by the Elitists.  The gradually change in the social system and the people got right to participate in the governance and raise their voice towards their need.  This change towards equality amongst men was a political change.  But in the social side, the conditions of women were not better than slave.  The concept of the Liberation of women is a gist towards their ill treatment in the European nations.  Liberation means freedom from bondage and bondage is a sign of slavery.

In the other part of the World, the conditions of women were family-oriented.  In the Asian social culture, i.e. in a family system where women are the nurturer of the family and men are the provider and protector.  Women were in the support system even in the family occupation.  So, the role of the women were quite significant and contributory, hence there were no concept of slavery.

But after the post western colonization, the term of Universal suffrage gave women a political right.  This political right was misinterpreted in reference to the social sector.  The right to vote is different from the social structure.  In political section, women are the citizen of the country and are holding an equal status shared by men.  But in the social and economical structure it is the virtue that governs the status.  In the social sector, i.e. the family system it is the respective role and its execution makes the gender equal and not the transformation of the gender role, i.e. woman who procreates has a natural role, whereas, man is having a social role.  The marriage is a social contract in which the procreation becomes legal and both mother and father share their role, i.e. mother as nurturer and father as provider and protector.

Even in the Economy sector, the division of occupation is based on the virtues and not as a gender – equality.  The virtues, which is able to create resources is termed masculine, whereas those who are in the support to create resources are feminine.

The concept of equality comes when there is negligence in the recognition or underestimation to the contribution of the Virtues.  If women are nurturing the family, i.e. society at the macro level then it should get their due recognition.  If overlooked this virtue, women gets the feeling of humiliation and subjugation.  This sense of complex gives rise to the voice of equality.  A directionless society creates confusion, and makes the society shattered.  A shattered society is always prone to invasion.

Feminists believe that Women are equal to Men, and in thinking this class themselves as superior. They also believe that God created Adam before Eve therefore women are superior to men. Margarete Thatcher said, “If women are made equal to men they would be taller than men”. It means women are already equal to men. But why must they wear six inches high heels to make them look taller?

However, in Hindu mythology Lord Shiva resides in Himalayas, the tallest mountain in the world; but his consort Parvati, as her name signifies resides in Hills (parvat). Please tell me if mythology is right or the women today claiming equality are right. Nice post. My dissension is only for the sake of argument. I am all for woman’s equality.
