The Real Racism in America

Just my view on racism in America.

These days everybody is worrying about racism towards black people or middle easterners. Even asians and hispanics are known to suffer from racism. This paints the picture that white people all are racist and are the only ones that are racist. The truth is that white people suffer a large amount of racism and stereotyping.

A very common stereotype toward white people is that we are racist and we stereotype everybody. How ironic is that? A lot of caucasions aren’t racist towards anybody, or at least they are consciously racist. Depending on the environment that somebody has grown up in and their past experiences, some people may be racist and not even know it. The point of my arguement though is that it is racist of somebody to exclude or avoid white people and to be suspicious of them because that person may possibly be a racist.

The average white person, at least from my experience will not be very suspicious of any other ethnic group but may be suspicious of a certain person or group of people because of their individual behavior. I’m not racist towards anybody and I will still be suspicious of a group of hispanics or black people that are acting all big and bad. I will usually avoid them on the streets because they seem like the type of people to mess with a person that is alone. Of course I will avoid any group of people on the streets when I am alone and they look like they may mess with me. On the other hand, I have friends or aquaintances of many races and have no conflicts with them.

The truth is that the “wanna be gangsters” are the minority that most people are racist towards. They give the respectable people of their ethnic group a bad name. When somebody says they hate black people, the majority of the time what they picture is the black guy on the street with the sagging pants and bandana that is talking trash and looks like he is carrying a gun. They don’t picture a respectable african american that is going through school or on his way to work, looking presentable.

I think that the most racism today that has the most actual reason to base off of is racist towards mexicans. Don’t get me wrong. I myself am not a racist but from the point of view of a lot of americans is that they illegally come in and work for cheap and are stealing the jobs of legal americans. The truth of this how I see it is that americans are simply too lazy to compete against the mexicans who have immigrated to our
“land of the free”. They are happy to work a job for less pay. They can appreciate all the freedom and, dwindling though it may be, the prosperity. People born in america take it for granted and only know how to sit on their lazy butts and complain while the immigrants are out there making money.

Those are my views on the real racism. Racism is mostly towards a group of people that is made up of many different ethnic groups. Some people may be racist towards everybody of an ethnic group just for that reason but the majority only think about the bad individuals when they say they hate a group of people.
