The Rise of Teen Pregnancy

Teen pregnancy and the effect it has on their education, and family values. Along with more broken families, and unwed mothers getting married young to provide a better life for their children and themselves.

Teen pregnancy is on the rise in the United States, more than it has been in years. The rise in teen pregnancy is rather sad to me, because these children have great potential and could really make something of themselves, if they would just wait to have sex and finish school. I think that having sex to young and having children at the age of 14 and 15 does have some harmful effects on the child, and the parenting skills that they will show. Most Teens don’t have the know how to take care of themselves let alone a child, and most parents now days have to work 40 to 50 hours a week to raise their own family, and so there for aren’t capable of raising their child’s child.

I’m glad that I waited until i was in my 20’s to have a child, but even then it was still hard, and is still hard to this day. I never thought that raising a child would be as hard as it is, and that doing it without the help of my family would make it even harder. But i believe that waiting until i was older to have children gave me the chance and the know how to learn about family values, and what it takes to make it in the working world, and that education is everything to be able to be a successful parent.

I think as parents we should try our hardest to encourage our children to do the right thing, and finish school, stop trying to grow up so fast, and enjoy being a child. Being a child is not that bad, and sometimes I’ll tell you I wish I could go back to being a child again.
