The Truth About Corn Syrup
The truth about corn syrup.
According to sweetsurprise.com, high fructose corn syrup has many uses in many foods, because it is stable for a longer period of time versus regular sugar. High fructose corn syrup control moisture and separation as well as tartness, which is why corn syrup is often used in yogurt. The same is true for many condiments. For frozen items corn syrup was adds a lower freezing point to food, so it will be more manageable for consumers to enjoy. Corn syrup provides an extended shelf life for many food items and provides a more consistent flavor throughout its shelf life.
According to webmd.com the research, thus far seem to indicate that corn syrup is very similar to the artificial sweeteners that are already on the market today. Your body processes all sugars the same way. What people need to be concerned about is not what sugar to avoid, but how much to avoid.
I conducted a research by performing a taste test; I bought Pepsi Throwback and traditional Pepsi. Pepsi throwback is made with real sugar and traditional Pepsi is made with high fructose corn syrup. What I found was that the traditional Pepsi was sweeter than the throwback Pepsi.
