The USA (Utterly Susceptible Americans)
This is an article of why Americans don’t protest against the biased US media when around the world, even the strict countries against media are dying just to know all the hidden flaws of their governments.
The US media is our way and only way of receiving news locally, nationally, and even worldwide. However, does it give the people what they need to know to make their day? Or does it provide them with what they “want” to know? Are they providing and revealing to us important information? Or are they keeping secrets and/or producing false stories? The truth is, yes, they do keep important matters away and safe from the public, but why? And why aren’t we acting to do something about this issue? The big, main, disappointing problem with many Americans is that they are ignorant, gullible, and are only concerned with what pleasures them. People can’t see beyond the simple issues that they’ve been talked in to by the media that aren’t as important as other matters, the US media usually tends to make the United States look like “hero of the day” by exaggerating the story and ruining other countries’ reputation by broadcasting inaccurate news, and finally, all the media care about is competing with one another for fame and to gain more and more audience. These factors illustrate to us and give us an idea of how awful and corrupt these US media corporations could be when it comes to reporting even the simplest, trouble-free news they could possibly find. That’s if they report it. The first amendment clearly states the “freedom of press”. What’s hard to make out is that if people have such a privilege that other countries’ press wish they had, then why aren’t Americans taking an advantage of that opportunity? Even media outlets with strict rules against them in other countries are still capable of exposing every bit of news they find, even if it takes sacrificing one another to do so.
Most Americans swallow what the news has to say daily thinking they know what’s going on with our government, our president, congress, the military, what they’re doing, what they’re avoiding, etc. and what is usually reported is flawless with no problems or any concerns or issues with politics the government has to say. This is what makes people in and outside the US think that our government is the best in the world. “The “major thrust” of the campaign, Gardiner explains, was “to make a conflict with Iraq seem part of a struggle between good and evil. Terrorism is evil… we are the good guys…The plan was to connect Iraq with the 9/11 attacks. Make the American people believe that Saddam Hussein was behind those attacks.”” (Gardiner, Rense.com). In the previous example, the US acted like the good guys and wanted a reason to fight “terrorism” in which they used the 9/11 attacks against Saddam to go fight and capture him. Although, this is also happening with foreign news which is thoroughly unpleasant for those who enjoy learning about what’s happening around the globe, especially for foreigners who keep informed about what’s occurring in their countries, for example, the secret bombing of Cambodia, Vietnam. This began under the authority of Richard Nixon and was carried on from 1969-1973. Only a few highly placed US officials knew about this illegal operation.
