The World’s Sustainability: Who’s to Blame?
The following post will describe and explain three different theories of scientist having to do with the world’s sustainability. One group of scientist believes that by controlling the world’s population that life on earth would become more stable. Another group thinks that because of the difference in priorities with nations that are based off consumer-oriented lifestyles is the cause of our planet not being stable across the globe. Lastly, the other group of scientist is convinced that by people not thinking that they are responsible for the life of our planet is the actual issue at hand.
Who is to blame, the world is dying at an alarming rate, so what should we do? First of all, blaming will not get us anywhere, it is already too obvious that as humans we strive to create ways to make life easier, with little regard to the simple natural elements that give us the foundation to create. So the real question is not who to blame, but how do we make up for the world we damaged?
One group of scientist believe by controlling the world’s population, it will prevent the human race from depleting natural resources and in turn be more beneficial to our worlds ecosystem. Although I am all for our natural freedoms, over population is an issue. In 1979 China set forth the “Only Child” policy which allowed every couple one child, this worked as far as lowering level of population throughout the years but due to the overall family structure and traditions, male children where preferred over females. (Smith, 2007) With this in mind as well as learning from their mistakes, I think that by limiting how many children a family can have would actually benefit our world. Nevertheless, learning from the downfalls that happened in China, I would think the best limit should be two children per couple. That way countries that do depend on their children for retirement, will have a chance as well as keep the ratio of men two women fairly even.
As far as the second group of scientist, I also agree with to an extent. People in well- developed countries want things that are not truly important to live. I do think that people who make ridiculous money should find ways to help the world. Some of these “do-gooders” already exist, take Angelina Jolie, Bill Gates, and Oprah Winfrey for example. Each has set up numerous organizations that help the unfortunate. (Reuters Life, 2008) The part I do not agree with is the fact that people who earn should enjoy life as they see fit, yes I think the upper class should contribute but at the same time they have a right to the luxuries they are so fortunate to have.
I also partially agree with the last group of scientist, we are not all taking responsibility for the damage we as the human race has incurred on this planet. I think that if people can they should, of course without putting themselves in a hole. Every little bit counts in the long run, whether it’s picking up litter, donating money or food, or purchasing an environment friendly vehicle it all adds up. For the less fortunate, better farming practices, waste management etc…
In conclusion, I think these three groups truly need to get together, instead of placing blame, propose ideas to sort out this mess. At the same time, research affordable solutions, not just finding ways to disguise Robin Hood Acts and so forth.

All 3 are relevant. Unfortunately it’s mandkinds destiny. It’s pre-determined in my opinion. But my opinion is meaningless without a point, As technology advances, it makes life more convenient and speeds production, communication, travel, every aspect to our lives. But man always seems to perverse or take this technology and create new ways to explore how to advance the killing machine, as well as condition our minds to now follow along. They don’t leave many choices. Your on board with it or turn Amish and hope it doesn’t happen anytime soon. Your tone and accuracy is right on point and really keen social senses. Great piece for discussion.
