Three Words: Health Care Now

The time has come for national health care.

The Republican Party may not want it but the signs of the times are evident. It is time for national health care coverage in America.

For too long the health care industry has been allowed to run roughshod over the American public and the results have been devastating.

Health care costs that increase three times faster than the rate of inflation, out of control prescription drug prices and financial bankruptcy of hundreds of families are some of the buy products of an industry that has operated as a monopoly for decades.

A national , government-sponsored health care system would provide competition necessary to drive health care costs down and bring prescription drugs prices under control.

Naturally the present health care insurance companies would not want any competition because it would mean a possible loss of clients and revenue. At the least it would force them to adjust their costs in order to be competitive with a lower cost system.

The Republican Party does not want an alternative system because the reducing the revenue of the present health insurance companies would mean reduced campaign contributions for them.

For the health insurance companies and the Republican Party, it is a lose-lose situation.

The Democratic Party has the right idea. All the bugs may not be worked out but the basic foundation is good.

Some form of national health care needs to be put in place as fast as can be done responsibly. America can’t afford to wait any longer.
