Traffic Accidents: Safety Measures in Cars

One day if you unfortunately involved in a car accident, what can you prevent?

In a car crash, the car suddenly stops when it hits or is hit by some obstacles. The driver not buckled up will be thrown forward, slam into the steering wheel, windshield and dashboard.

It takes only a second or 2 for an adult to buckle up. It takes only a couple of minutes to get a baby into a safety seat. Take the time to be safe — even if you are only going for a short distance.

The safest place in the car foe an infant safety seat is facing the rear of the car and in the middle of the back seat. This helps protect the baby’s head and neck!

many new cars have air bags to protect the driver and the passenger riding in the front seat. Air bags are usually inside the steering wheel and dashboard in front of the passenger seat.

In a crash, air bags would quickly inflate. The force of an air bag can hurt people who are too close to it . To prevent yourself and your children from being hurt by an air bag, follow these steps:

  • Never put a child aged 12 or below in the front seat.
  • Never put an infant seat that faces the rear of the car in the front seat.
  • Keep driver and passenger seats for back from the dashboard.

1. Why the driver would slam with the steering wheel during a car crash?

The car is stopped by the collision with an obstacle but the driver keeps on moving by his inertia. The collision occurs when he hits the steering wheel.

2. What will happen if the baby is not fixed in the safety seat by the belt?

The baby still keeps on moving by its inertia and it may be thrown out of the car in a crash.
