Types of Bullies and The Parents of Them
There are different Types of bullies.
In a past article we named the types of bullying, but we did not mention that there are several types of bullies. Do we know what causes a bully to bully someone?
In an article titled “What causes bullies?” By Jane St. Clairshe tells us that Author Susan Coloraso list several kinds of bullies. Read article
Hyperactive Bully: acts physically
Detached Bully: plans his/her attacks and is a very delightful person to everyone except who he/she is bullying.
Social Bully: he/she demeans others through gossip and meanness
Bullied Bully: he overpowers others by getting relief from his own sense of helplessness
The households that bullies come from have nothing do with if the child will become a bully or not. What parents tolerate in their homes does have a lot to do with the child becoming a bully. Many parents see and hear their child doing wrong, but they never correct the child and let them know that it is wrong and it is not tolerated. Instead you have some parents who ignore their child’s behavior because they do not feel like teaching them the values of life. Parenting is a 24/7 job that continues even after the child is 18. Parents stop wanting to kick your children out the house when they turn 18.
The above article by Jane St. Clair states that bullies are not born to bully. Bullying is a learned behavior. Many times bullies come from parents who do not spend time with their kids. In “Causes of Bullying, Bullying Behavior in Bullying Child” by Dr. Steven Richfield he said that bullying behavior is linked to social intolerance and low self-worth. Read site When a child feels low self-worth it comes from the home. A child may have a younger sibling who now gets the attention he/she use to have. Maybe the grades of another sibling are better than their grades. Another reason could be that the child is always being put down at home by their parents.
Parents monitor your childs behavior. If your household is like the one discussed in this article change it. If you do not know how, seek help. Remember, parenting is a 24/7 job that you can not take a vacation from. It is your job as a parent to supply your kids with the tools they need in life to be successful. No Teacher or School should be held liable to give that to your child.
