Few Pakistanis support the terrorist network al-Qaeda, but only 10 percent still believe that it was the right of the United States to liquidate Osama bin Laden during a raid in the town of Abbottabad 2 May, according to a poll Pew Research Center has conducted.
63 percent of respondents believe it was wrong of the United States to act against bin Laden, while 27 percent say they are uncertain.
Only 8 percent of Pakistanis have confidence that Barack Obama will do the right thing in the world, and skepticism of the American president is thus as much now as it was during George W. Bush’s last years in power.
When asked who they believe pose the greatest threat to Pakistan, answer 57 percent India.
The entire 92 percent of those surveyed say they are dissatisfied with developments in Pakistan, and only 11 percent look favorably on the country’s civilian president Asif Ali Zardari.
79 percent believe however that the military has great influence in Pakistan, while 76 per cent say the same about the media in the country.
