U.s. State Hits Moral Bottom on Two Counts

Almost everyday I check for news and information stories on the Internet. Just a few weeks ago I read one article regarding U.S. states, which led to another article. I came across an interesting correlation in my opinion.

First I want to say the purpose of this article is not to slam any state, nor am I saying the correlation I came across repeats itself exactly or even nearly. I would just like to point out a Biblical principle I have been teaching for years: sin breeds sin (Haggai 2:13-14).

As I checked the news, the title of one article got my attention as it indicated a list of the laziest states for 2010. And, of course, I wanted to see where my present home state stood in that list. The laziest one was a southern state (I’m not saying all southern states are lazy, although there were a few more in that list).

After reading the article, there was a link that pointed to another article that would list the least peaceful states for 2010. I followed the link and what did I find? Yep, the laziest state also was the least peaceful state.

Satan, the prince of this world (John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11), is quite a deceiver (Revelation 12:9). I imagine that in the minds of many some think they will have peace if they can kick back and do nothing. I remember seeing images, when I was younger, in magazines and on TV of people just lounging around, soaking up the sun, and seemingly at peace. I thought that was the life.

I soon found out that happy moments often do not last, and are often crushed by the cares of this life. Thanks to the kingdom of darkness and my own sinful stupidity I became mentally taxed and depressed, even to the point of suicidal thoughts.

Is there not an absence of peace in depression?

[http://petemacinta.bravehost.com/dep.html]Once I surrendered to Christ one of the tools He gave me to overcome depression is to stay busy. I found the more time I had to meditate for my own pleasure, the more the negative popped into my mind, and the less peaceful I was.

Laziness solves nothing. It is written (Proverbs 15:19), “The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.”

If you want true peace you are not going to get it by doing nothing. True and lasting peace comes only in God through a direct relationship with Christ Jesus. Once you truly surrender to Him, making Him your King, trusting and obeying Him, you will grow into a level of peace that defies comprehension by those that do not know Christ in an intimate way.

If only we could be more diligent to seek God. Most of us only be diligent to make money and it could make us depressed.

You have hit upon one of the principles that exemplifies the Kingdom of Heaven as an upside kingdom. Those who work hard, find rest. Those who humble themselves will be lifted up. Those who die to self find life. And those who would be leaders must be the servants of all. Isn’t it a beautiful life!

The article is interesting, but not only laziness and aggressivity determine the whole world to fall apart.

Absolutely true what you said about depression and laziness and having nothing to do. People need to hear this. The Lord showed me the same. “True peace will not come by doing nothing”.The world won’t admit this because they need to sell their pills. The answer? Christ..Amen!

The drugs don’t work… there’s no high like the Most High. Let’s all pray for those with depression.
