VIVAnews – President of the United States (U.S.), Barack Obama, called on Israel and Palestine soon hold direct negotiations. This should be done before the break Israeli settlement construction on Palestinian land ends in September.

“I hope that once negotiations begin immediately before the moratorium on residential development ends, it will create a climate in which all people feel success,” Obama said.

Netanyahu said his discussion with Obama is extraordinary and now is a good time to open direct talks with the Palestinians. Netanyahu also promised concrete steps that can be done today, tomorrow, or within the next few weeks to move towards the peace process.

However, Netanyahu did not explain the concrete measures in question and do not give a signal about the possibility of a new agreement regarding the settlement.
