United States of America
We live in it but has anyone actually defined its real meaning or even thought about the meaning behind the name of our nation? Let’s look at why are we called United States of America instead of America?
Let’s break it down first into definition of the word’s meaning; United means: to join, combine or incorporate so as to form a single whole or unit. States means: a politically unified people occupying a definite territory; nation. It also means the territory or one of the territories, of a government. America is defined as a Republic in the N. Western Hemisphere comprising of 48 conterminous (having common boundary, bordering or meeting at the ends) states, the District of Columbia and Alaska in North America and Hawaii in the North Pacific. That number has grown since the publishing of the dictionary.
I have listened to and read literature that others have written regarding this issue and sought to seek this out for myself and I must say I am impressed with the outcome of my own findings. Between the written words of the Constitution of the United States of America and the definition of the words I have to agree with many who are saying each state is a government within a government and unto themselves according to the majority of the people within each state.
Simply put each state has the right to implement their own laws accordingly to their own people and if those laws do not necessarily match up with another state it should be not only acceptable but expected because each state is comprised of different people with different points of views. Each state has sovereign authority within its territory as mandated by the people living within that state.
Each community within each state should have representation within their respective states also mandated by the people living within their respective communities. This would mean that most who commute from one community to another to conduct business or work must obey the laws and rules of that community while within it. It does not mean that any one has any right to force their personal beliefs or views on another it does however mean that people must learn to respect the differences between people. It also means that if the majority votes one way but you disagree with the vote you have one of two options; accept the majority’s vote and quietly live with it or move to a community that is more to your liking; but the choice is yours to make.
