Universal Healthcare: Not as Good as It Sounds
Please read this article with an open mind. It gives SOME, not all, of the health care bill that congress is trying to pass.
So many people are for universal health care it’s scary. Except for those who read the actual bill. Here are just some points that are on this ‘bhill.’
On page 29, your health care will be rationed. What does that mean? You might not get the care you deserve from the government. Not to worry, that is the only option because if you buy into a private plan, that the government doesn’t approve of. As we know, they won’t approve of any private plan in all reality, you will have to pay an extra 2.5% in your income tax (page 167 of bill).
Also, this bill will not only cover Americans it will cover illegal aliens and non residents of the U.S. (page 50) So you won’t only have to pay extra taxes for just Americans, but anyone who just walks into the country. Isn’t that just wonderful? The best part of that is, illegal aliens and non residents will not have to pay taxes on the health care services they use in the U.S. (on page 170) The Americans get to pay for everyone!
On page 127 of bill, doctors will all get paid the same. Wow. So, if you are thinking about becoming a brain surgeon, why bother? You’ll get paid the same as the low-end doctor. And you have to go through more schooling and better training. Why try to do well, you’re going to get paid the same as everyone else? There is a reason why brain surgeons or surgeons in general get paid more than most doctors: they literally have your life in their hands by cutting you open. Scary, eh?
It gets better, I swear! On page 317 it states a doctor cannot invest or own health care companies. Wait, back up? Who started hospitals? Most likely a doctor. A doctor knows medicine, procedures, and a lot about the medical world that most people have no idea about. Who is going to run the hospital? A politician with a degree in political science? I feel really safe now. It’s like telling you, that if you work at a franchise you can’t own a franchise someday.
Sorry I lied about things getting better, because they just don’t. The government is going to ration health care (page 29). They even admit it into the bill. So, you could get treated, or you could not get treated! On page 272, cancer patients, I feel bad for you. They’re going to ration chemotherapy.
Worried about your Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa? If not you should be, they’re going to get their ‘end of life options.’ (Page 425). The government will give you options for when you die. Basically our elders will get pain pills until they die. They will not get any surgeries because they will not be of value to the U.S. government. By value I mean, they will not be paying taxes for much longer. So, why keep them alive?
Not to mention all of the payoffs ACORN and other non medicine companies will get when this bill passes. It’s mentioned several times throughout the bill.
Let me leave you guys with one final thought. The U.S. Constitution. Where in this document does it say that the government has to pay for your health care? No where! I’ve the read the Constitution many times in high school. So, technically the government shouldn’t even be able to pass this bill, it’s unconstitutional. It’s a state’s rights issue, on a federal government issue. Also, I would recommend that all U.S. citizens read this bill.

Interesting article.
In UK we have a National Health Service which technically provides free health care to everyone. I say technically because not all treatments are available within the system. It is funded by contributions from people who work, and that is just another way of taking money from those who work to pay for those who don’t.
There is a growing problem here in that fewer people are working to pay for more people who are not. Where does it end?

I am against universal health care, but there are a lot of errors and incorrect facts in this article. The article has absolutely no provisions for illegal aliens.
If you want to fight universal health care take the argument to moral and logical grounds.

In most European countries universal health care also covers non-citizens but residents (with some exceptions).
If the US constitution in its original form doesn’t mention that the government should provide health care for all the people, the constitution should be amended, shouldn’t it?
What is the government for, if not for the people?

Where in this document does it say that the government has to pay for your health care?
That\’s why it\’s called a public option. Alexa, you poor girl, you are vastly misinformed.

Sorry, Alexa I have to disagree with you all the way on this one. Honey, we all deserve health care. The millions of people who have no health care deserve it just as much as those with huge salaries who can afford to pay the astronomical insurance premiums. The insurances. drug companies, the lawyers who are paid to deny every claim they can, do not deserve to get rich off our backs. Do you understand our insurance premiums pay them even more than the high priced doctors? Do you know people die because they can’t afford to go to a hospital. I, myself know a woman who died because no hospital would admit her. She left 4 little children. Some of my own family cannot get insurance. If they became ill they could die because they would get no care.Do you knowi f you have a chronic illness you can’t get insurance even if you can afford to pay for it? You can check out everything I say and you will see it’s true.

Thanks for the err comments…
Louie, I don’t know when it is supposed to stop. I mean, I don’t know how high your taxes are in England, but they can’t keep raising them because then they will get less and less tax revenue and will fall just like Rome did so many years ago.
Zymas, I got all of my points from the bill itself
Rana, the government is supposed to be for the people by the people. Personally, I think the consitutions is perfect the way it is. It gives us little government. I mean, name one thing the government does well besides the military? Amending the consitution takes a 2 thirds vote from either the people or states to ratify it. It’s a lot of work, more than what people are willing to do.
Blah, it may be considered the ‘public’ option but is paid for by tax payer dollars by the government. Meaning, that if you look at the constitution it does not say “The Government shall give people free health care.” Since it is a government option and not in the constitution it is therefore unconstitutional
Ruby, hospitals are by law supposed to give you care no matter what. Then they work with you to pay for it. It’s in the law. Blue Cross Blue Shield is non profit and will take anyone with a chronic illness and give them coverage.

Great Article Alexa! I will be paying more attention to this bill, now that I have been engaged in your article.
If the health care covers illegal aliens or not. It is the American way, eh?

There is a controversy subject, and from what I’ve known so far, it’s not all that glory..Great article, Alexa! You’ve pointed out some thing to think about..

Great articel, Alexa. I am really against the issue how non residents will benefit from loyal taxpayers of the country. This illegal alien should do something for the good of the country at least one good thing.

I live in Canada and support our health care system. I won’t say that it’s perfect but I would never vote to give it up. I hope that the US gets the right system for them, one that the majority can support and no one will want to give up twenty years from now.

Why are people so against other people getting free health care? I don’t think the bill supports ‘illegal aliens’ as you called them. But these people are humans too. If they get ill, what should a doctor do? Let them die because they’re ‘illegal.’
If you came to Britain and found out you needed surgery or you would die in 24 hours, would you think it was a good idea for the doctors to say, ‘hang on, can’t treat you, you haven’t got the papers.’
The tax working people pay is so that people like your grandparents who’re retired and your younger siblings who do not work could get free medical care right along with your parents who are earners. I seriously doubt that health care would be rationed in the way you interpreted it. I’m due for much needed surgery next week. I had to wait for longer than a person with an emergency condition. I think that this is what it means.
No one has to give up their health plan. You can choose to go private and pay for your treatment like you always have.
Becoming a doctor is hardly about making money. It’s about saving lives. It’s a respectable career. No one does well in school purely because of the payment at the end of it. They do so because of pride and ambition.
I know you have an open mind, so I suggest that you read this plan from both sides. I suspect you’re being tugged by people who are opposed to this because of their own agendas.

I see your point Anne, I mean, if I or anyone i know was in another country had to have a surgery i would want it done. I’m not saying that we shouldn’t doctor people from a different country, i’m saying that we should all have to pay for our own health care. I wouldn’t mind paying a british docotor money for giving me surgery when i was abroad. Everything I’ve heard from doctors here in the U.S., and from what I’ve read just hasn’t been good. Then after i read the bill, it scared me pretty badly. Like, if you buy into the private plan, your income tax percentage would go up. Also, i feel the bill was poorly written, and isn’t going to help people. As for illegal aliens, I do see your point, Also, I don’t think you should have to wait to have a surgery for a long time, even if it’s not fatal…

Alexa, I haven’t read the bill you’re talking about, so I can’t comment on that. But I do live in England and we do have the NHS and it is the most amazing security blanket. They may not be perfect, but they do a wonderful job overall. Whoever you are, and wherever you are in the UK you know you’ll be looked after if you get sick, and you won’t be charged a penny.
