We Hold These Truths Self Evident

Poem.

It is a concept before which Humanity must kneel

That all men and women are created equal

Not equal in the opportunities they haphazardly meet

Not equal in advancements or trials by fire of defeat

Not equal in the value they contribute to the world

Not equal in intelligence to navigate debate or quarrel

Not equal in the strength or vigor of each ones health

Not equal in their degree of accumulated wealth

Not equal in being well liked or sincerely despised

Not equal in organic life’s decision in who lives longest or who dies

Not equal in beauty of body or face

Not equal in temperament or levels of grace

But all men stand one and the same

To receive equal treatment as ”Due Process”

From laws governing fairness

A circumstance upon which Justly laws must insist

If we are to make our way to true Justice

And all men stand equal in their degree of Human Rights

And are advised never to relinquish them without a legal fight

That amongst these are the right to life

To be able to continue to live

That amongst these are the use of a harmless liberty

And when harmless something immoral for others

To imagine they can take or give

That amongst these is the moral right

To the pursuit of a harmless happiness

The same goal all religion and philosophy propose and confess

Although they never agree on the right pathway

Which is any-body’s right to guess
