What are We Going to Do?

The world today.

Take a good look around you. Don’t you think the world is falling apart? Look at North Korea. They have a crazy dictator testing nuclear weapons. In Irag we are still fighting a war we cant seem to win. So far we have over 4200 casualties. Can anyone really tell us why?? Where are the weapons of mass destruction?? Just recently the government decided not to give the prestigious metal of honor to a young soldier that “only” threw himself on a grenade to save his comrades. Will it ever end?

Look at gasoline. Oil is around 95 dollars a barrel. The last time it was so low gas was selling for 2.75 a gallon. I am puzzled why it is still so high. Traditionally the price of oil dictates the gas prices. They have conveniently changed that criterion to “supply and demand”. That is ludicrous!! Of course there is a high demand for gas. We all have cars!

Take health care. That will never change. Even if you have the insurance, the companies will only cover co-pays and prescriptions without resistance. Make a claim for something major and see how it goes. Insurance companies have a special department that is sole purpose is to find reasons not to cover your expenses. Ask the CEO’s that make ten million a year why. Oh, I just gave you the answer. We could easily have socialized health care. The way I see it, if the government can bail AIG out by giving them 89 billion dollars they can help find a way to subsidize health care. Its funny how a procedure at the hospital might cost someone without insurance $100 and cost someone with insurance $150. I do not even think that needs explaining.

I really believe the current presidential candidates mean well by what they are promising to do. Let’s be realistic, though. Are we so naive to think they could actually do the things they promise. Health care is a 600 billion dollar a year industry. Too many important people are making money for things to change. They do not want to “bite the hand that feeds them”. Trust me. The current administration has run this country in to ground. Look at the financial sectors. Banks are closing left and right. Ironically, the CEO’s of these banks are walking with millions of dollars. Foreclosures are at a record high. As is filed bankruptcies. Our property is actually losing value. In California, homes have depreciated a record 34% in the last year. Unemployment is at near record highs. Who do we ask for help?

In closing, in reality the only way could fix thing is by scrapping everything and starting completely over. We are living in a modern day Gotham City. I am really afraid as to where things are headed. Are you?
