What Does Freedom Mean to You?
The Legendary Subhas Chandra Bose once said “Give me your Blood, I’ll give you freedom”
Well, how relevant this statement is today, I know not. Times have changed and so have the lifestyles and mindsets of the people.
Do you think someone will come asking for your blood once you ask for freedom of Religion or any other freedom say Expression of Thoughts? No such people are better off attending some sessions specially meant for them, right? So now crops up the big Question: What does freedom cost? Nothing. It’s as clear as day, Freedom does not even cost a pie. Let me recollect if it did for me…….hmm…no.
So Chill out and have fun and make frolic. But wait a second. Look around and see if anybody is disturbed by you enjoying our freedom? If what I read in my school is right , all the citizens of India are ensured the right to Freedom, not the right to cause nuisance to the society. Right?
Well, before speaking here, I conducted sort of survey amongst my friends. All of them evoked almost the same response: Flouting the maximum number of Laws and hanging out??? What good does it do?
Imagine a situation wherein I give my bike Keys to one of you sitting here and do I expect you to safe keep them? No go out and come. You would be only glad to take it out in full speed and flout almost as many Traffic laws as possible. Then when the police is at your toes try using Tilak’s ideologue “Swaraj is My Birthright and I shall have it”. The next moment a row of bars are neatly arranged in front of you and you just realize you are in jail. What happened to your freedom? What a waste?
No. According to this is not the way one enjoys his freedom. We as students have the Freedom of making choices. Make choices that you’ll not regret later. At this level you’re expected to take decisions and I suggest you take some. But be rigid on that decision once you take it for every decision needs some time to take effect. Allow it to take effect. Be brave to face the hurdles that come up your way. Don’t shy away from people. Socialize. Let us give India its rightful place under the Sun. Give way for destiny to be shaped. Arise Awake and stop not till the goal is reached. Oh! Okay too much Vedanta. I’ll find some other time to bring it all out. Till then folks. JAI HIND
